Joseph founded Broadreach Medical Resources in 2004 to be a premier New York-based benefits advisory service firm. The company, which currently administers benefits, supplemented by additional products and services, serves plan participants for groups operating in all fifty states. As a business professional with equity participation in several ventures, Joseph has expertise in start-up organizations where he has been able to implement successful sales and marketing strategies which have rapidly made these organizations financially solvent. This tremendous growth is attributed to each company’s reputation for extensive product knowledge and thorough service.
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Buffalo, holding a degree in Business Management, Joseph did his graduate studies in International Business and Finance at New York University. A member of the Board of Directors of the Viscardi Center, as well as the Board of Directors of Abilities Inc., Joseph has been recognized for his philanthropic involvement and support of numerous non-profit and community service organizations. With his leadership, J.N. Savasta Corp., and our employees, proudly support The Viscardi Center, St. Francis College, UCP of Utica, Feed the Children, City Harvest, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors, and many other worthy causes and institutions.
Scott Geromette
Scott joined Broadreach in 2023 as Chief Strategy Officer after having served as one of its external consultant for more than five years. Prior to joining Broadreach, Scott was a partner at a large, Midwest-based business law firm where he served as the Leader of the Insurance and Regulatory Practice. Having been in private practice for more than 13 years, Scott has substantial experience with the evaluation, development, implementation and management of a wide variety of insurance and self-insurance programs, both in the property and casualty as well as the accident and health space. In particular, he has worked with (i) insureds and employers of all sizes and from all industry sectors looking to implement comprehensive structures to best manage their risk in a cost and tax efficient manner, and maximize value to their employees, (ii) brokers seeking to ensure legal/regulatory compliance as they develop programs to better address their clients’ needs, and (iii) commercial insurance companies desiring to deliver innovative and efficient solutions to insureds that are faced with ever-changing market conditions. His legal training, combined with his depth of experience across the spectrum of identifying insurance/self-insurance needs and developing sophisticated yet practical solutions, has provided Scott with a unique perspective that makes him a valuable member of the Broadreach team and an asset to its clients.
Scott graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. He attended undergrad at Columbia University where he graduated with honors. Scott is licensed to practice law in Michigan and is involved in a number of organizations and association groups.
Michael Fendrich
Michael Fendrich has a long and varied history with BMR, having been with the firm since the development of their first client. With over 15 years of benefit analysis and administration experience, he is able to leverage his background to provide comprehensive service to BMR’s client base, or in support of the BMR Client Services Team. As one of the original architects of BMR’s analytics and client services platform, as well as financial underwriting protocols, Michael has led the evolution of BMR’s systems into those that enable the provision of exceptional client and member service. In his capacity as COO, Michael uses his overall knowledge to engage with all BMR departments including finance, analytics, sales and marketing, and works directly with several clients, as well as helps to develop new business opportunities and solutions.
Prior to joining BMR, Michael worked in business systems development in a company that provided the hiring and training of high level sales people. In this firm he helped engineer systems which accounted for the development of hundreds of new clients including several Fortune 500 rated firms. The systems and analysis processes he implemented led to improved client retention and increase renewal revenue. Prior to that, Michael worked for a large civil engineering firm, where he identified and implemented ways to more efficiently categorize and store data electronically.
Michael was educated at Yeshiva University where he studied Math and Computers as well as Columbia University where he continued his Mathematical studies while focusing on Engineering and Management Systems.
Elliot Berkovitz
Dr. Berkovits oversees clinical projects at BMR, which include formulary development and maintenance, MAC program oversight, and clinical content of BMR’s clinical management programs. Prior to joining BMR, Dr. Berkovits completed a pharmacy practice residency at Maimonides Medical Center during which he gave presentations at leading conferences including the midyear clinical meetings of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Annual Eastern States Conference in Baltimore. His study is published in the American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy. During his residency, Dr. Berkovits served as Professor of Pharmacology to the paramedic program at LaGuardia Community College. Prior, he served as clinical consultant pharmacist to the Women’s League Community Residences and was the community pharmacist/assistant manager at Medical Arts Chemists and Surgicals. He currently is a professor at Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, Touro College of Pharmacy, and Creighton University School of pharmacy. Dr. Berkovits is also a member of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Medical Reserve Corp. Dr. Berkovits is a dean’s list graduate of Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus at the Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy. He is a NYS licensed private adjuster. He is subject matter expert and consultant for the Prescriber’s Letter and was recently selected to an advisory committee for the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York (PSSNY), to help advise the council on drafting of PBM legislation for the state of New York.
In his spare time, he enjoys scuba diving, sailing, biking, extreme skiing, swimming with sharks, and many other outdoor activities. He holds a black belt in karate and teaches classes, as well as numerous advanced licenses for the above activities.
Beth MacKnight
Beth is a seasoned healthcare professional at BMR. She is the Implementation Manager and supervises the BMR Customer Service Team. She also provides assistance to the clinical pharmacists as well as customer service for our members and clients. Prior to joining BMR, Beth held several positions at Chase/USI and Aetna.
Kam Yuen
As leader of BMR’s finance team, Kam manages the corporate finances and oversees the accounting department. After university, she began her career on Wall Street in portfolio and private planning and insurance management for ultra high net worth Wall Street clients. Her sharp attention to detail and planning led her to lead both the HR and finance functions where she managed the payroll and benefits program for more than 150 employees. In addition to finance, she enjoys working with new technology to continually improve department efficiencies. Despite having more than 15 years’ experience on the finance side of healthcare and benefits, she knows that there is always something new to learn. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her sharp work and devotion to her colleagues.
Jacques Aboaf
Jacques is the Vice President of Strategy and works on digital products and strategy in addition to special projects. He’s designed and developed products, e-commerce platforms, and services for more than 15 years. His career has been deeply focused on achieving hyper revenue growth in very dynamic and fluid environments and under tight deadlines. Prior to BMR he’s held senior leadership roles in product, sales, marketing, and program management. His experience includes managing cross-functional teams in e-commerce, technology, life-safety and financial services.
Neil Shapiro
Neil Shapiro is a veteran of the group insurance industry for the past 33 years. During this time period he co-founded the Benefits Group, an independent General Agency, in 1992. The Benefits Group grew to become the second largest Blue Cross Blue Shield GA in the New Jersey market. In 1997 Neil sold The Benefits Group to Amwins, now the largest insurance wholesaler in the country. Then, in 2002, Neil returned to the industry to form Core Benefit Solutions, another General Agency, and in 2003 this firm began working with such industry leaders as Key Benefit Administrators and Transamerica. Neil worked with KBA until 2016 and then joined Broadreach Medical Resources, as Director of National Sales – Specialty Markets. In this capacity Neil will collaborate with his industry relationships, leverage his expertise and bring his leadership to bear on in support of BMR’s vision.
Greg Esemplare
Greg Esemplare was Vice President, Key Accounts and Producer Relations for Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company. In this role he was responsible for creating and optimizing relationships with customers and their consultants.
Greg is an insurance professional with more than 25 years industry experience. He has served in various executive and management roles where he was responsible for overall planning and execution of underwriting strategies for group benefits product portfolio, including both employer paid and voluntary lines. Greg helped design and launch programs to develop new talent, leverage technology and improve business processes across the enterprise.
In his capacity with BMR, Greg will leverage his substantial industry experience as he develops and builds relationships with our business partners. Greg will utilize his expertise to develop and lead initiatives as well as be a key influencer in BMR’s product design, development and market deployment.
